💡 Tip: Visit the House of the Painter Felicja Curyłowa for the best examples.

Info: Zalipie is a picturesque village in southern Poland, renowned for its unique tradition of decorating homes and structures with vibrant floral motifs. This folk art began in the late 19th century when women started painting over soot marks from wood-burning stoves with whitewash, which eventually evolved into colorful floral patterns. Today, the village boasts over 30 painted houses, along with barns, wells, and even dog kennels adorned with these designs. The tradition is celebrated annually with the "Malowana Chata" (Painted Cottage) competition, encouraging residents to continue this artistic heritage. Notably, the home of Felicja Curyłowa, a prominent local artist, has been preserved as a museum, showcasing the intricate artwork that defines Zalipie's charm.
